i absolutely love your work. i keep coming back to your page like some crazy stalker, lol. this is such a fun painting! everywhere i look, theres so much to revel at. always a new detail calling for attention. just wonderfuuuul. the way you handle light is sooooo awesome. i'm definitely looking forward to more of your work.
one question: how much of this is without reference?
(sadly, i gave up playing origins and dont remember who leilana is...oops! i'm gonna play it again, see what the fuss is about.)
Aw, happy to hear of art stalkers! I'm honored, thank you.
Hmm reference.. I look a lot at the mirror for body references, sometimes an anatomy book, and for game world details I look at a bunch of screenshots online. Otherwise I look up whatever I'm drawing at the moment (like "curtains") and just look through google image search to pick up little details. I guess all in all I always refer to something, stitching together random details into the whole image.
Origin is alright, it is pretty long so I can see why someone would stop playing it (I played Mass Effect 1 and 2 between my DA playthrough). I think if you start roleplaying in your head it's easier to get into it, else you're bombarded with so many details and possibilities its kind of overwhelming! Good luck if you start playing again. (you can also check out youtube to get a feel )
i knew it! there's no way someone can paint that stuff out of their head (i've tried so many times painting without reference...a bad habit of mine). thanks for answering i always love to hear about other artists' processes.
i kinda suck at RPing, but i'm geting better at it. right now i'm almost done with mass effect 3, and my shepard is a goody-twoshoed-badass. that doesn't even make any sense, but whatever! when i'm done wiht that, i think i'll skip origins and play dragon age II... if i can help it. are you playing any games at the moment?
